MOCA was delighted to have worked once again in support of CEPIC Congress, the annual image industry event held this year in Zagreb, Croatia.
Zagreb is a small and charming city, with architectural variety, much having been renovated post-civil war. The Congress was bustling with industry discussions, seminars and networking activity. Unfortunately the drinks reception in the garden of the UK Ambassador’s residence was rained out and had to be transferred to an indoor hotel venue, not quite the excitement planned!
For MOCA this year’s Congress was really busy. Once again MOCA supported Congress sponsorship and moderated the Cultural Heritage seminar. We also represented Ryan Rossotto’s niche collections at Stocktrek Images (USA), discussing new distribution opportunities with potential international agencies. “I couldn’t have asked for two more experienced and knowledgeable women to represent my company… Andrea & Mary make a dominant team, complimenting each other very well in working together to raise brand awareness for Stocktrek Images…I didn’t just come out of this with potential new business and clients, I established a relationship with Andrea & Mary that I know will be everlasting.” (See below for Ryan’s full remarks.)
The Heritage seminar titled, The Cost of Collaboration, moderated by Andrea Stern, had packed attendance, though we were at first a little anxious that only 7 people had turned up. Five minutes later we were bringing in more chairs! Challenging technology one of the panelists, Jeff Cowton, Curator and Head of Learning at Wordsworth Trust, was ‘beamed in’ from the UK’s Lake District, and the panel discussed the issues around the restrictions placed on heritage by funding bodies and individuals, the ‘value’ of cultural content when so much is being put on line for free, the problems for specialist agencies representing heritage content, and the solutions heritage is having to find to fund the digitisation and promotion of their collections. The other panellists were Sandra Powlette, Picture Manager of the British Library, Thomas Pey, Managing Director of AKG Images Paris and David Price-Hughes International Sales Manager at Bridgeman Images. We not have discovered a grand solution, but it is the start of a conversation between the different sectors which will hopefully grow and continue, seeking to reach an understanding as to what ‘access’ really means.

It’s been an absolute pleasure working with you! I couldn’t have asked for two more experienced and knowledgeable women to represent my company, Stocktrek Images, at the annual CEPIC event. Combined, with their immense involvement in the picture licensing industry and established relationships with many of the principal contacts, they have brought awareness to the Stocktrek brand on a global scale. I may have been thousands of miles away across the Atlantic Ocean, but I can assure you they made me feel as though I was right alongside them the entire time! We’d communicate daily, and they made sure to keep me in the know at all times with all interactions. They surely have gone above and beyond all expectations.
Words can’t describe how grateful I am to have had these two on my side. Andrea & Mary are trustworthy, ambitious, courteous, and always enthusiastic! I didn’t just come out of this with potential new business and clients, I established a relationship with Andrea & Mary that I know will be everlasting.
