zagreb3MOCA at the CEPIC Congress in Zagreb

25 – 27 May 2016

MOCA was delighted to have worked once again in support of CEPIC Congress, the annual image industry event held this year in Zagreb, Croatia.

Zagreb is a small and charming city, with architectural variety, much having been renovated post-civil war.  The Congress was bustling with industry discussions, seminars and networking activity.   Unfortunately the drinks reception in the garden of the UK Ambassador’s residence was rained out and had to be transferred to an indoor hotel venue, not quite the excitement planned!

For MOCA this year’s Congress was really busy. Once again MOCA supported Congress sponsorship and moderated the Cultural Heritage seminar. We also represented Ryan Rossotto’s niche collections at Stocktrek Images (USA), discussing new distribution opportunities with potential international agencies. “I couldn’t have asked for two more experienced and knowledgeable women to represent my company… Andrea & Mary make a dominant team, complimenting each other very well in working together to raise brand awareness for Stocktrek Images…I didn’t just come out of this with potential new business and clients, I established a relationship with Andrea & Mary that I know will be everlasting.”  (See below for Ryan’s full remarks.)

The Heritage seminar titled, The Cost of Collaboration, moderated by Andrea Stern, had packed attendance, though we were at first a little anxious that only 7 people had turned up.  Five minutes later we were bringing in more chairs!  Challenging technology one of the panelists, Jeff Cowton, Curator and Head of Learning at Wordsworth Trust, was ‘beamed in’ from the UK’s Lake District, and the panel discussed the issues around the restrictions placed on heritage by funding bodies and individuals, the ‘value’ of cultural content when so much is being put on line for free, the problems for specialist agencies representing heritage content, and the solutions heritage is having to find to fund the digitisation and promotion of their collections. The other panellists were Sandra Powlette, Picture Manager of the British Library, Thomas Pey, Managing Director of AKG Images Paris and David Price-Hughes International Sales Manager at Bridgeman Images.  We not have discovered a grand solution, but it is the start of a conversation between the different sectors which will hopefully grow and continue, seeking to reach an understanding as to what ‘access’ really means.

In today’s online environment, building trust and connections is even more critical than ever! We would be happy to help with your business challenges, review your industry relationships and develop a network of international distributors.  We will be attending the DMLA Conference in New Jersey and Visual Connections 26th-29th October 2016.  To arrange a time to talk about your sales and marketing before, during and after the event, and help us to help you make the most of this opportunity – email contact@themoca.co.uk

It’s been an absolute pleasure working with you! I couldn’t have asked for two more experienced and knowledgeable women to represent my company, Stocktrek Images, at the annual CEPIC event. Andrea & Mary make a dominant team, complimenting each other very well in working together to raise brand awareness for Stocktrek Images.  Combined, with their immense involvement in the picture licensing industry and established relationships with many of the principal contacts, they have brought awareness to the Stocktrek brand on a global scale. They worked around the clock learning about Stocktrek Images, researching potential distributors that would fit our company well, and contacting delegates to secure meetings. Andrea & Mary were very supportive, providing their perspective and insight when pivotal.  They networked and discussed the Stocktrek brand throughout their daily interactions with business professionals, not just at CEPIC.  These two women have strong character of commitment, diligence and reliability.

I may have been thousands of miles away across the Atlantic Ocean, but I can assure you they made me feel as though I was right alongside them the entire time!  We’d communicate daily, and they made sure to keep me in the know at all times with all interactions. They surely have gone above and beyond all expectations.

Words can’t describe how grateful I am to have had these two on my side. Andrea & Mary are trustworthy, ambitious, courteous, and always enthusiastic! I didn’t just come out of this with potential new business and clients, I established a relationship with Andrea & Mary that I know will be everlasting.

Thanks again for your herculean efforts!
